Hey, I'm Chloe
Project manager. Parent. Expat living in Madrid, Spain.
A few years ago, I relocated here with my family. What started as a temporary contract slowly turned into a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Began
Moving to France wasn’t in the long-range plan. Like many international transfers, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far more significant.
The initial months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday chores seemed more complicated than they needed to be.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and plenty of learning by doing. But gradually, routines took shape. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and started building something that felt steady.
Why I Built Drift Wood Signal
Most online information hovered between corporate relocation guidance and surface-level tourism content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.
This site exists to bridge that gap — practical advice drawn from real life in France.
What This Site Represents (And Does Not)
This site OFFERS:
- Hands-on experience from living in France
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever real changes occur
This site DOESN'T:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- Not a sponsored review platform
- Not a generic travel blog
Moving Forward
Our time in France continues, and so does the learning process. As long as the information is useful, I’ll keep documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Paris or anywhere in France, don't hesitate to reach out.
Best regards,
Chloe
